Free the Wage Slave
Money news for people building an exit.
Today, nothing at all. Here is the rule for what happens when that changes.
Nothing. Check it yourself: there is no advertising slot on any page, no sponsored section,
no affiliate parameter on any outbound link, and no comparison table on this site that ranks a
product. Outbound links to other publications carry rel="nofollow" and exist so
you can check a figure against its source, which is the only reason we link out at all.
The Friday brief is free and carries no advertising either.
A money site that earns from the products it covers has a conflict, and the honest thing is to say in advance how it would be handled rather than after the fact. Three commitments.
First, disclosure at the point of the link, not in a footer. If a link earns us money, the sentence containing it says so.
Second, ordering stays with the arithmetic. Where this site ranks anything, the rank comes from a figure computed on the research desk and printed on the page, so you can check the order rather than trust it. No payment reorders a list, and no arrangement adds an entry to one.
Third, the desk that earns is not the desk that covers. Anyone with a commercial relationship to a company is off that company's coverage.
Because the moment to write a policy is before it costs anything. The search results this site competes in are held by banks, exchanges, HR software companies and tax filers, all of whom have something to sell at the end of the article and most of whom disclose it in a footer nobody reads. Publishing the rule now is the only version of this page that is worth anything later.
How to check. Every claim on this page is verifiable from the page source. If you find an affiliate parameter, a sponsored block or a paid placement anywhere on this site while this page says there is none, that is a correction and we want to know — see corrections.
